Domain verification

Verify ownership
of your domain

Before Teleport can process payments for your website, we need to confirm that you control the domain. You'll add a small DNS record we can look up. Adding it takes about two minutes and does not change how your site works.

The exact record you need to add
Type: TXT
Name / Host: @
Value: teleport-verification=YOUR-TOKEN-HERE
TTL: 3600 (or Auto)

Replace YOUR-TOKEN-HERE with the unique token from your Teleport merchant dashboard (Settings → Domains), or from the email you received from Teleport support. The token starts with letters and digits and looks like tv_a1b2c3d4e5f6.

The record must be published on the root of your domain (for example example.com, not www.example.com).

Field mapping

Different registrars use slightly different field names. This is how the record maps to the common labels.

FieldValue
TypeTXT
Name / Host@ (or your root domain, e.g. example.com)
Value / Contentteleport-verification=YOUR-TOKEN-HERE
TTL1 hour (3600 seconds) or Auto

Instructions for common registrars

Find your registrar below and follow the steps. If your registrar isn't listed, the process is the same — add a TXT record on the root of your domain.

GoDaddy

  1. Sign in to your GoDaddy account and open My Products.
  2. Next to your domain, click DNS (or Manage DNS).
  3. Under the DNS Records section, click Add and choose TXT.
  4. Set Name (also called Host) to @.
  5. Paste the value into Value (also called TXT Value).
  6. Leave TTL at 1 hour (default).
  7. Click Save. DNS propagation is usually 5–30 minutes.

  3. Open the Advanced DNS tab.
  4. Under Host Records click Add New Record, choose TXT Record.
  5. Set Host to @.

Using a different registrar or hosting provider?

The process is the same everywhere: find the DNS management screen for your domain, add a new record of type TXT, set the host to @ (root), and paste the value from the box above. If you can't find where to do this, forward this page and your token to your webmaster or contact us at [email protected].

After you add the record

  1. Wait about 5–30 minutes for DNS to propagate. Cloudflare is usually instant; some other registrars take longer.
  2. Return to your Teleport merchant dashboard and click Verify domain. If the record is found, the domain is marked verified and payment processing is enabled.
  3. If verification fails after 60 minutes, double-check the record value for typos (extra spaces, missing prefix, quoted strings) and try again.

Troubleshooting

+I added the record, but Teleport says it's not detected yet.
DNS changes take time to propagate. Wait 5–30 minutes for most registrars, up to a few hours in rare cases. You can check propagation with a public tool such as dnschecker.org, searching for a TXT record on your root domain.
+Should I add the record to the root domain or a subdomain?
Add it to the root domain. Use @ (or leave the Host / Name field blank if your registrar treats blank as root). Do not add it to www or any other subdomain.
+I already have other TXT records (SPF, DKIM, Google verification). Will they conflict?
No. A domain can hold multiple TXT records simultaneously. Add ours as a new, separate record — do not merge it with an existing one.
+Can I remove the record after verification?
For most integrations we recommend keeping the record in place. It allows Teleport to periodically re-verify ownership, which prevents surprise revocation if the record is later removed by mistake.
+Where do I get my token?
Your unique verification token is shown in your Teleport merchant dashboard under Settings → Domains, or was included in the email from Teleport support asking you to verify. If you cannot find it, contact us at [email protected].
